Wind Solar Hybrid Systems

Aerial Power has successfully installed and commissioned several Wind Solar Hybrid Systems in Kerala and outside Kerala.

A hybrid renewable energy system utilizes two or more energy production methods. Solar/Wind hybrids use solar panels and small wind turbine to generate electricity. They work in small and large capacities, capacity depends on load. Power generation depends on wind velocity and solar radiation. This system is more cost effective and reliable in the wind available zone.


The Solar Wind hybrid systems are applicable, where the uninterrupted energy is required. It can be used in residential, commercial and industrial sectors, the systems are used (for example) in offices, hotels, schools where power shortage is chronic or where the power is expected all the time (Apartments and homes).

Our Solar Wind hybrid systems (low vibration and less noise) are ideal for installation at residential areas.


The major advantage of Solar / Wind hybrid system is that when solar and wind power productions are used together, the reliability of the system is enhanced. Additionally, the size of battery storage can be reduced slightly as there is less reliance on one method of power production. Often, when there is no sun, there is plenty of wind.

It is also to be noted that wind power and solar power complement each other. During monsoon months solar power generation is reduced to a large extent due to cloudy skies, during the same period, the wind speeds are much higher than rest of the year. While monsoon, wind turbines generate extra power to compensate for the loss of solar power (variation of wind speed and solar radiation) through the year.

System sizing:

The smaller systems (1 kW) take up about 1 sq. metre of area (which is the foundation area of the wind turbines). The solar panels typically take up 10 sq. metres for each 1 kW.

Wind Turbine can be from 400W to 5000W in the wind velocity range of 3.1 m/sec to 12 m/sec.The smaller wind turbines (400W) weighs 5.8 kgs. At the higher end, the 3.2 KW weighs 70 kgs.

A small Solar wind hybrid system is typically comprised of a wind turbine, a tower, a controller, an inverter, solar PV Modules and battery bank.
